This Sunday afternoon sees our Open Women’s side play off in the 2022 HFLW Grand Final. After defeating Onkaparinga Valley by 10 points in the semi-final the team will come up against Uraidla Districts who have made the Grand Final for the fourth consecutive season coming from the Elimination final to make the big dance.

In their only meeting of the season back in Round 9, the Woods had a dominate display in trying conditions registering 12 shots on goal to one to recording an 11 point victory with the side kicking eleven behinds for the match. Brie Medder kicked the only goal of the match for the Woods whilst Miki Collins, Saraid Kustermann, Gretel Ramsey, Lily Brook, Georgina Brooks and Tamika May were awarded as the best players during the game.

Of the matches both sides have played in 2022, they ranks very similar in both attack and defence. The Woods average 41.5 points in attack while conceding 20.7 points compared to the Demons who average 43.5 points for while only conceding 28.3 points.

Under 17 Girls

On Sunday our Under 17.5 Girls team travels to Harpers Field to face Golden Grove in the Qualifying Final. Finishing third on the ladder at the completion of the minor rounds, the team will look to secure a victory and progress to face the Henley Sharks next weekend.

In the three encounters between the sides for the season, the Woods have won one games whilst Golden Grove have won two. Back in the opening round of the season, Blackwood suffered a six point loss as the Kookaburras kicked two goals to none in the third quarter to set up the match and secure the victory.

In the second match in Round 8 on Sunday afternoon, Golden Grove once again had a strong third quarter kicking four goals while holding the Woods scoreless eventually securing a seven point victory. For the final encounter, Blackwood turned the tide from the previous games managing to hit the lead early and hold on in the last quarter with a two point victory at the final siren.

Of the matches both sides have played in 2022, the Woods average 22.8 points in attack while only conceding 13.8 points (+9.0 differential) compared to the Kookaburra who average 45.9 points in attack for while conceding 17.8 points (+28.2 differential).

Under 15 Girls

Also on Sunday, our Under 15 Girls side travels to take on Tea Tree Gully in the Qualifying Final at Pertaringa Oval.

In the one match between the side back in Round 9, inaccurate kicking cost the Woods booting one goal from eight scoring shots in the match as the Wolves secured a 23 points victory at the final siren courtesy of a first half where they kicked 23 points to only one.

Of the matches both sides have played in 2022, the Woods average 18.7 points in attack while conceding 21.1 points (-2.4 differential) compared to Tea Tree Gully who average 21.1 points in attack for while conceding 14.6 points (+6.4 differential).
