The Blackwood Football Club has named its squad to face Nairne Bremer United in Round 15 of the Police Credit Union Hills Football League.

The match at KX Pilates Blackwood Oval is a highly anticipated affair between the fifth placed Woods and sixth placed Rams side with a win to strongly shape the positions on the ladder. The match will be broadcast live courtesy of the Call of the Wild Youtube page

In big selection news, the Woods have named elusive forward Jack Lewis to return having missed the last two matches. The Adelaide Crows top-up player has played a total of six matches for the Woods where he has booted 10 goals including three in the last match against the Rams in Round 6.

Also selected in the squad for the match is speedster Bailey Pedro, dangerous small Kai Tucker and key defender Matt Waldron.

Speaking at selection on Thursday evening, coach Scott Prebble said the side was looking forward to this weekend. “It is a big weekend for the club with a home match, sponsors and past players day.”

“The Rams got one over on us the last time we played them, so we will be looking to return that favour on our home deck. We have had a good week on the track and are ready to put in a big performance in front of our supporters.”

For the B Grade, Daniel Lowe has made a total of four changes to the squad for the match against the seventh placed Rams. In welcome news, the Woods welcome back Nik Gacic from injury having missed last weekend while Charlie Aikten, Nick Evans and Ben Wender have also been selected to play.

The Woods will be looking to record their ninth victory of the season and firm up a place in the top five on the ladder. Back in Round 6, inaccurate kicking returned in the Woods suffering a three point loss to the Rams at Nairne Oval, the first time lost to the Rams in the B Grade since they returned to the Division One competition. On the day, Cameron Bahnisch and Ben Wender booted two majors.

In the C Grade, they have named a squad of 22 players to face the Mt Barker Football Club in Sunday’s Elimination Final. Returning to the side for the match are captain Patrick Mackay, experienced tall Adam Greaves, defender Tyler Clare and winger Josh Thompson.

The side will be looking to secure a victory of the Barkeroos for the third time this season having defeated them by 66 points in Round 4 and 27 points in Round 11. The Woods will be looking to continue their outstanding finals record in the HFL C Grade competition having played a total 16 finals since the start of 2010 where they have won 14 of them including six premierships.

In the Senior Colts, the Daryl Sowerby coached side currently sit on top of the ladder and have named a squad of 21 players to face the fifth ranked Nairne Bremer side. Returning to the squad for the match are Jay Burton who returning having played in the B Grade last weekend while Jack Eames returns having be unavailable through injury since Round 4.

In the previous encounter between the sides back in Round 6, the Woods suffered their only defeat of the 2022 season to date going down by 8 points to the Rams. On the day, the Woods booted four majors through Paul Brown, Alex Markham, Oscar Whitehouse and Tyson Wilmshurst with Aaron Ramsey being named best player.
