Luke Evans is set to play his 100th match for the Blackwood Football Club. Evans is one of only three current players whose last year of senior colts was 2010. Evans came to the club in 2010 playing in the country senior colts alongside his mates. Finishing playing senior colts football, Evans progressed into the senior ranks in 2011 playing in the successful C Grade Grand Final against Mt Lofty.

The following year Evans played in the losing C Grade Grand Final to Mt Lofty. Following the completion of the C Grade season, Evans was called up for his one A Grade game to date. Playing against Uraidla in Round 18 of the season, Evans sat on the bench in the match which the side went down by 4 points in terrible conditions at U-Install-It Kitchens Oval.

Over the following two seasons (2013 and 2014), Evans became a regular B Grade player playing 36 matches winning 30 out of 36 matches (83.3%) during this period. During 2014 he played in the undefeated B Grade premiership team being named as the best player on the ground during the 5 point victory over Uraidla Districts. Most people will remember the match for the heroics of Tyler Martin who slotted a long range goal from 50 metres out on the boundary line with less than 30 seconds remaining on the clock.

Playing less games over the next two season due to work and travelling, Evans returned to full time football in 2017 being part of the successful 2017 C Grade premiership team.

From the 99 games Evans has played to

  • 99 games (1 A Grade, 62 B Grade, 36 C Grade)
  • 80.8% winning ratio (80 wins, 15 losses, 1 draw and 3 no results recorded)
  • 33 goals (0.33 per match)
  • 23 times in the best players (1st: 7 times, 2nd: 1 times, 3rd: 5 times, 4th: 5 times, 5th: 5 times)
  • 3 time premiership player (C Grade 2011, B Grade 2014, C Grade 2017)
  • Best on Ground in the 2014 Grand Final
