Round 3 of the Mortgage Choice Hills Football League sees the Woods face the Echunga Demons at U-Install-It Kitchens Oval. After two wins to start 2019, the Woods will be looking to continue the winning form after the Easter bye. Senior Coach Ryan Anderson said the side was looking forward to the contest. “Echunga are a quality side with great players across the park. We must be on it from the first minute of the game. After a weekend off, the players are raring to go. We have another bye after this weekend so everyone is keen to put in a big performance.”

The Woods have played the Demons at U-Install-It Kitchens Oval on five occasions since 2014 when the Demons rejoined the Division One competition. From the five matches, the Woods have a Two-One-and-Two record with the last match between the sides occurring in Round 9 of 2018. On the day in the wet conditions, the Woods got jumped in the first quarter trailing by 26 points at the first break. Fighting back to lead by half time, the Woods had an inaccurate second half kicking 1.6 (12) to 2.2 (14) to see the game finish all square at full-time 5.11 (41) to 6.5 (41). Echunga have only played one match to date in 2019, recording a 31 point defeat against Onkaparinga Valley in Round 1. Losing every quarter, the Demons were let down by inaccuracy kicking at 50.0 percent in front of the goals compared to 78.9 percent for the Bulldogs. Joel Aish led the way with five majors whilst Jack Liston, Jamison Duffield, Adam Edwards and Clint Guy featuring in the better players.

In 2018, the Demons finished in fifth position winning nine matches. Across the season they had the third ranked attack in the competition averaging 70.6 points (Blackwood averaged 66.7 points) whilst they had the fourth worst defence conceding on average 70.4 points (Blackwood ranked second conceded only 55.9)
