This weekend sees the Blackwood Football Club Under 16s SANFL Girls side play in the Grand Final against the Port Districts Football Club. The match is set to get underway from 1.20 pm at Alberton Oval.

Across the minor round season the Woods finished top of the ladder with 12 wins from 12 matches whilst Port Districts finished in second position on the ladder with seven wins. The Woods finished with the best attack and defence in the competition averaging 37.8 points for and amazingly only 3.7 points against compared to Port Districts who averaged 35.1 points for (second in competition) and 16.9 points against (third in competition).

In the three matches which the sides have met during 2019, the Woods recorded three victories. In Round 2 the Woods secured a 52 point victory with Lily Brook kicking three majors and Zoe Venning being named best player. In Round 9, Blackwood kicked two goals to none in the final quarter to record a 19 point victory. Leila-Grace Ward had a dominate game kicking two goals to be named best player. In the most recent game in the semi-final, the Woods came out and dominated the first quarter kicking four goals to none to record a 19 point victory in the end. Leila-Grace Ward kicked three goals whilst Tamika May was named best player.
