Dear Blackwood Football Club Community,

Over the last few weeks, the community has experienced some unprecedented times which has affected us all in some way. Whilst we are missing football, health of the wider community is more important.

The SANFL has adopted the latest government and health authorities’ recommendations in respect to ‘social distancing’ for club and public gatherings. The Blackwood Football Club strongly supports this Government and SANFL direction in the interest of public safety and recommends all members and everyone in the Blackwood Football Club community observe the limits as outlined in the SANFL ‘Club Hub’ newsletter update below. These include:

  • Minimum social distancing of 1.5 meters between people
  • No more than 2 people plus a minimum space allowance of 4m2 per person.

Hills Football League Season Postponement – update

The Hills Football League Board reminds all affiliated Clubs of the announcement on Tuesday the 17th of March 2020 regarding the decision to delay the 2020 Hills Football League season until Saturday 13 June 2020 (weekend after June long weekend).

All Clubs are reminded this decision includes:

  • Delay of commencement of HFL Season until Saturday 13 June 2020
  • Suspension of all trial games until further notice.
  • Suspension of all club training sessions until further notice

As the COVID-19 situation changes almost daily, the Blackwood Football Club will continue to be guided by the direction of the HFL, SANFL, AFL, government and public health authorities. Further details and information will be provided by the SANFL to affiliated clubs in due course.  This will include specific recommendations and advice on:

  • Latest changes in government and health authorities’ recommendations on ‘Social Distancing’ in respect to club and community gatherings.
  • Advanced notice on recommencement of training sessions, ahead of the planned season commencement in June 2020.

In closing, the Blackwood Football Club committee supports the latest government and SANFL decisions which are in the best interests of all players, club officials and volunteers at the forefront of community sport.

Even though there is no football being played at the moment, the Blackwood Football Club committee is still working hard on keeping the club primed and ready for when we return. Keep an eye on the website and club’s social media channels for information regarding merchandise purchases and upcoming new and exciting ways we can keep connected including some fun and challenging activities to help with the boredom.

We thank you for your continued patience and support through this challenging period. Please stick together, look after each other and stay safe. I so look forward to when we can all come together at the Blackwood Football Club once more.

Yours sincerely,

Kris Winchester
