Joel Aish will return to the field in 2022 after re-committing with the Woods for another year.

The star forward was side-lined for majoirty of the 2021 season after injuring his right leg in a game in May against Uraidla Districts at home.

Aish joined the Woods ahead of the 2020 season and has played a total of 16 matches where he has kicked 57 goals (3.56 per match) which is the second highest of any player across the Division One A Grade competition during this period.

Senior Coach, Scott Prebble said he looks forward to having Aish return to the field.

“It’s been a tough year for Joel and we commend his spirit and his dedication to the club after he was side-lined,” Prebble said.

“We can’t wait to see Aishy back in action wearing the red and green.”

Aish said he was looking forward to seeing what results the team can achieve for the club this season.

“I loved my first two seasons at the club – it has been a really welcoming environment to come into and it was also a competitive place for me to push myself.” said Aish.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the results we can achieve for the club next season – the whole squad is ready to work really hard and put in 100% for each other. To prove ourselves as strong competitors and a top team in the Hills Football League.”
