The Blackwood Football Club has a new president after David Richardson was elected to the position at last Friday’s Annual General Meeting. Richardson, who is a life member of the club takes over the position after Kris Winchester vacated the position after 4 years in the role.

Richardson said in his first speech after he was elected ‘it’s a tremendous honour to be elected into the position of this wonderful club. I have been at this club for many years and have seen it grow and change significantly over that time.”

“The Blackwood Football Club is a great place, with great people and I am humble to follow in the footsteps of all who have been in the position beforehand. I look forward to taking the club forward in the coming years.”

Richardson takes over the role after Kris Winchester elected to step down from the position after 4 years in the role. Winchester said in his final speech to the club “It was an honour to lead the club; I couldn’t have done it without such wonderful people around me.”

Having taken over the president ahead of the 2018 season, Winchester set about improving the club off the field including upgrading the facilities and making it more efficient in order to try and reduce the burden on volunteers. He said “in a climate where everyone is time-poor we have tried to improve how the club operates to take some of that pressure off.”

“To all our volunteers, far too many to name. Your constant efforts and love for the club does not go unnoticed. Although we don’t volunteer for the accolades, it’s nice when you get a smile and thank you. THANK YOU”

“We have look to facilitate upgrades to the club (new changerooms, warm up area, upgrades to furniture, gym equipment to name a few) and make it a better place for all of those who visit. I truly believe the Blackwood Football Club is in a great position for the years to come.”
