Following feedback from the sporting community, restrictions announced on Monday in regards to spectators at outdoor community sporting events have been relaxed.

In essence, these restrictions should enable clubs and leagues can run their match days as close to usual (running canteens, BBQS, drink sales etc) with the most significant change being the mandatory wearing of masks for spectators.

Outdoor community sporting events can host spectators under the following conditions:

  • Maximum of 1,000 spectators permitted (density permitting at 1 person per 2sqm)
  • ALL SPECTATORS attending outdoor sporting events MUST WEAR MASKS AT ALL TIMES (unless eating or drinking). This applies to all areas of the venue, both inside and outside
  • Spectators must be seated during consumption of all food and drink
  • It is also highly recommended that all other persons at the event, including but not limited to players, officials and volunteers also wear a mask

Please note that persons aged 12 and under do not have to wear masks, and that players and officials don’t have to wear masks while participating in the game/exercising. SA Health also outline other circumstances where it might not be possible to wear a mask HERE.

We hope to see you at the football this weekend abiding by the above protocols.
