Our B Grade Men’s side face off against the Mt Barker Football Club with the winner to progress into the Grand Final. The match will be the 28th time the Woods have faced the Barkeroos since the start of 2010, with Blackwood winning 21 matches (77.8%). Across these wins, the Woods have won by an average of 48 points kicking 244 goals at 57.5% accuracy.

In the three encounters between the sides this season, the ledger sits at one win to the Woods and two wins to the Barkeroos. In Round 2, Mt Barker ran over the top of the Woods in the second half to record a 26 point victory. The Woods dominated next clash in Round 11 kicking ten goals to record a 50 point victory whilst in the most recent match in the Qualifying Final at Callington Oval, the Barkeroos kicked five goals to one in the first half to eventual record a 28 point victory

Key statistic – 10 scoring shots

The key statistic in the match will be whether the Woods can break through the Barkeroos defence and have enough shots on goal to kick a winning score. From the 18 matches Blackwood have played to date in 2021, they have recorded less than 10 scoring shots on two occasions, both against Mt Barker (Round 2 and the Qualifying Final).

On the flip side, the Woods will be looking to restrict the Roos to less than 10 scoring shots, with three of the four losses they have had for the season coming in games where they had recorded under 10 scoring shots.

Senior Colts

🆚 Onkaparinga Valley FC
📍 Echunga Oval
⏰ 11:00am
🎫 Adults: $12, Pensioners: $7, Children 12 to 17: $2, Under 11: FREE (Tickets can be purchased online here)

Facing the Onkaparinga Valley Bulldogs for a spot in the big dance, the Woods will be looking to rebound from last weekend’s loss to Nairne Bremer in the second semi-final. The Woods come up against the side from Onkaparinga Valley for the 28 time since the beginning of 2010 with the Woods having a 81.5 percent winning record from the 27 matches played across the period. This includes winning 15 of the last 16 matches by an average of 44 points.

In the two most recent encounters between the sides in 2021, the Woods have a two-and-zero record winning the Round 6 match by 51 points whilst in the Qualifying Final, the Woods held off a fast finishing Bulldogs side to win by six points. Across the season the Woods have scored a total of 181 goals from 345 shots (52.5% accuracy) compared to the Bulldogs who have scored 136 goals from 276 shots (49.3% accuracy).

For this match, the side will be looking to turn around the performance in attack and make the most of their chances up forward. Last weekend’s match against Nairne was the fewest goals they have scored all season (three) and only the ninth time in 231 played since the beginning of 2010 which the side has scored three goals or less in a game.

In the two encounters two encounters between the sides in 2021, the Woods have suffered narrow defeats in both games.
