The 2022 Police Credit Union Hills Football League Major Rounds are here. Following the completion for the 18 minor rounds, the road to deciding the 2022 premiers begins this weekend with the Blackwood Football Club featuring in both the A Grade and Senior Colts.

Despite suffering a loss last weekend, results went to the Woods way resulting in the team qualifying for the finals. In a repeat of last weekends fixture, the Woods face the Uraidla Districts Demons with a crunch elimination final. The fixture is scheduled to be played on the wide expanses of Callington Oval with a forecast of 21 degrees and light northerly winds poised to make it an outstanding day for football.

Across the season, the Demons and Woods have played on two occasions with Uraidla winning on both occasions. In wet conditions in Round 9, ex-AFL player and coach of the Demons Dean Terlich proved to be the match winner booting six majors as the Woods suffered a 17 point loss. On the day, Blackwood had five individual goal kickers with Mark Reynolds being named best player. In last weekend’s fixture, the Woods suffered a 35 point loss with captain Ryan Dijksman booting three goals and Rhys Sporn being named best player.

On Saturday, the Senior Colts who finished second of the ladder for the seventh consecutive season play off in the Qualifying Final against the Mt Lofty Devils. Blackwood will be looking to continue their good record in Senior Colts qualifying finals have secured victories in five of the seven matches played since 2015.

In a mouth-watering clash at KX Pilates Blackwood Oval, the Woods will be looking to secure a victory over the Devils and move into the match against the Barkeroos the following week. In the two matches between the sides in 2022, the Woods have secured two victory with a 32 point margin in Round 2 and a 33 point margin in Round 11 with the Woods having won a total of 24 out of 29 matches between the sides in the Senior Colts competition dating back to the start of the 2010 season.

Under 15 Boys

On Sunday our Under 15 Boys play in a semi-final clash against Hope Valley at Daly Oval. Facing the Demons for the second time this season, the Woods will be looking to rebound from last weekend’s result against Angle Vale and progress to next weekend’s Preliminary Final.

In the one match between the sides back in Round 11, the Woods went down by 60 points on a cold morning at Hope Valley Oval. On the day, Lachlan Antic and Maxwell Ray booted single goals while Tyson von Boltenstern, Lachlan Martin, Mitchell Daniell, Benjamin Spraggs and Maxwell Ray were named best players.
