The Blackwood Football Club has made four changes to its squad for tomorrow afternoon’s match against the Hahndorf Magpies in Round 16 of the Police Credit Union Hills Football League.

The Woods will be looking to secure victory number nine of the season against the ladder leading Magpies in predicted wet conditions at Hahndorf Oval and look to break the run of losses at the venue with the Woods last victory at the venue occurring back in 2013.

In selection news, the Woods welcome back speedster Patrick Hillard from Central Districts in his second match of the season while experience defender Sam Venning, inside bull Ryan McMurtrie and exciting youngster Cody Padroth have also been named in the squad.

Speaking at selections on Thursday evening, coach Scott Prebble said the side was ready to face the Magpies this weekend. “We travel up to Hahndorf looking to secure a victory against the competition leaders. We are looking forward to putting in a solid match in tough conditions and look forward to representing the jumper with pride.”

In the B Grade, Daniel Lowe has once again been forced to make several changes with player unavailability. Coming into the squad for the match are Cameron Bahnisch, Josh Bergin, Luis Riley, Sam Tonkin and Oscar Whitehouse. For Riley, who is currently part of the Senior Colts squad, it will be his first B Grade game in the Red and Green having played two previous C Grade matches in Round 3 and Round 11.

The Woods will be looking to cause the first loss of the season for the ladder leading Magpies. In the previous match up between the sides back in Round 7, the Woods fought their way back into the match trailing by 26 points at the first break. Taking the lead into half time, the Woods eventually suffered a 12-point loss in a fierce battle. On the day, there was five individual goal kickers while Brad Jones was named best player in his 200th club match.

For the C Grade, Adam Pope, and the side travel to Echunga Oval on Sunday afternoon to face the Hahndorf Magpies in the Preliminary Final. Having not played the Magpies to date this season the match up will be slightly unknown, but the Woods will head in confident with a solid finals record in the HFL C Grade competition where in the eight HFL C Grade seasons played since 2010 the Woods have played in the Grand Final in all of them.

The side has two changes from last weekend with Jack Murphy and Bryce Semba selected to play.

For Daryl Sowerby’s Senior Colts, they come up against the fourth placed Magpies with the Woods looking to secure their 13th victory of the season. In the previous matchup between the teams in Round 7, Blackwood won by 63 points with Nick Evans booting four goals and Caleb McCormick, Aaron Ramsey, Ethan Kotz, Callum Finlayson and Josh Payne featuring in the best players.
