The Blackwood Football Club has named its squad for the final minor round of the season.

Travelling to Uraidla to face the Demons, the Woods will be looking to secure the victory and lock in a finals birth. Blackwood has a sound final round record winning 11 of 16 matches since 2006 by an average of 58.36 points including the five of the last six and the last three on the trot.

In selection news, the Woods welcome back three players with Mat Tee, Matt Tuck and Eduard Van Den Berg named to play. For Tee he returns to the side having booted three goals in the B Grade against the Barkeroos while 2020 Mail Medallist Tuck suits up for the first time since Round 11 against Mt Lofty and Van Den Berg returns having missed Round 17.

Speaking at selection on Thursday evening coach Scott Prebble said it was a key match on Saturday afternoon. “We have everything to play for this Saturday and are looking forward to taking the game on and coming away with the victory.”

In the B Grade, as the story has been all season Daniel Lowe has been forced to make seven changes to the side for the match with Alex Hopkins, James Hopton, Connor McCarl, Kai Tucker, Tom Walden and Zac Venning selected in the squad for the match. For Hopkins and Walden it will be their first B Grade games in the red and green having played the last two seasons in the C Grade and bring the total players used by Daniel Lowe’s side this season to 61 which is the second most in the competition being the Bridgewater-Callington Raiders.

The Woods who currently sit in six placed need to secure a victory by 64 points in the match in order to leap the Demons and book a place in finals. In the previous match up between the sides, Blackwood came away from the match with a 17 point loss with Cameron Bahnisch, Zac Town, Ryan McMurtrie, Joshua Bergin and Caleb Dearman being named in the best players for the match.

For the Senior Colts, Daryl Sowerby has named a strong squad for their clash against the Demons in their final match of the minor round season. Sowerby has named Jack Eames, Callum Finlayson, Maxism Maclean and Tyson Wilmshurst to return to the team from last weekend with the Woods in the hunt secure a top of the table with a victory. In the last match up between the sides in Round 9, the Woods came away with the chocolates securing a 16 point victory at KX Pilates Blackwood Oval. Jay Burton was the star up front booting two majors while Luis Riley was named best player.
