Blackwood has made three changes to its squad for its Round 5 match against Onkaparinga Valley on Saturday afternoon.
In a big day for the club at KX Pilates Blackwood Oval, the Woods will be looking to secure victory number four over the Bulldogs.
In a big selection, Joel Aish has been named in the selected squad for the first time in Season 2022 returning from injury sustained last season. The Woods forward half will be bolstered with the return of the star goal kicker who averages 3.56 goals per game across the 16 matches he has for the Woods to date.
Other players returning the line up are inside midfielder bull Daniel Benson who missed last weekend against the Raiders and Jak Baldissera who steps back into the side having played in the B Grade in the first few rounds.
Speaking at selection on Thursday evening Scott Prebble stated the side was looking forward to this weekend.
“We have had a solid week on the track working on areas identified for improvement. The boys aren’t looking to rest on their laurels and know we need to keep improving and bring our game every, single weekend.”
“It is a big weekend for the entire club and we look forward to representing the red and green in front of our loyal followers on Saturday afternoon.”
In the B Grade, Daniel Lowe has made a string of changes once again welcoming eight different faces to the side from last weekend. Across the opening four matches of the season, Lowe’s side has made a combined 20 changes and played 35 different players.
For this weekend, there is no bigger name in the business that past Premiership player and 2020 Moulden Medal Scott Bricknell who dons the red and green for the first time in 595 days. Other changes include Luke Evans, Bailey Pedro, Alex Strauss, Zac Town, Kai Tucker, Zac Venning and Ben Wender who have all been named.
The B Grade is poised to be a special occasion with milestone matches for two players: captain Tom Radford playing his 200th match while Luke Evans lining up for his 150th game.
In the C Grade, Adam Pope has named a strong squad with Brodie Curnow, Jonathan Grimes, Luke Hocking, Jackson Hughes, Mitch Masters, Dylan Scarborough and Andrew Work coming into the line up. The C Grade lines up against Mt Barker in an early season top of the table clash under lights after the A Grade from 5pm. The match also sees Luke Hocking play his 50th game in the red and green.
Daryl Sowerby has named an almost full strength squad to run out against the Bulldogs on Saturday morning. The side is bolstered by the return of 2021 Junior Colt Mail Medallist Callum Finlayson who returns having started the season in the B Grade whilst Edward New plays his first game in the red and the green.
