Blackwood has made three changes to its squad to face Hahndorf on Saturday afternoon in Round 7 of the Hills Football League.
The Woods return to KX Pilates Blackwood Oval for the fifth time this season and will be looking to return to the winners circle having suffered a defeat at the hands of Nairne Bremer last weekend.
In a big selection, current Senior Colts captain Luke Lewis has been named to make his A Grade debut, the eighth player to make their A Grade Men’s debut for the Woods in 2022. Lewis has had an impressive start to the season honing his craft in the B Grade where he has played five matches, booting four goals and being named in the better players on four occasions including a best on ground performance against Bridgewater in Round 4.
Also selected in the squad are star forward Joel Aish having been a late withdrawal last weekend and Ben Wender who earns a recalled from the B Grade.
Speaking at selection on Thursday evening Scott Prebble stated the side was looking forward to taking to the field tomorrow afternoon.
“We had a solid review of the game last week and identified plenty of areas which we needed to be better.”
“We have trained those during the week and are looking forward to putting in a four quarter committed performance against the Magpies.”
In the B Grade, Daniel Lowe has made seven changes to the squad which is looking to cause the first defeat for the Magpies in 2022. The last time the B Grade defeated Hahndorf was back in Round 17 of 2017. Coming into the line up for the game are Charlie Aitken, Bailey Black, Josh Bergin, Brodie Curnow, Connor McCarl, Brad Jones and Denam Moore. The match is poised to be a special occasion for Brad Jones as he becomes the 47th member of the Woods 200 club while for Aitken, Black and McCarl they play their first B Grade games for the club.
In the C Grade, Adam Pope has squad of 22 to players to face Uraidla Districts under lights from 5pm with Wyatt Hammer, Alex Hopkins, Ben Kernich, Daniel Lowe, Jason Pope, Michael Richardson, Bryce Semba and Andrew Work being named in the line up from last weekend.
For the Senior Colts, they have named a squad of 23 players with Edward New and Michael Roberts playing their first games in the red and green.
