The Blackwood Football Club Women’s team unfortunately fell short of claiming the ultimate prize, the 2022 premiership going down by 14 points to Uraidla Districts in the Grand Final at Hanson Oval on Sunday afternoon.

In a match that had many ebbs and flows, the Woods were jumped from the gun with the Demons booting two first quarter goals to only two behinds for the Woods. After resetting at the first break, the Woods worked their way back into the match kicking two goals to none in the second quarter to claim the lead at the main break.

In a tight second half, the Woods were unable to continue their momentum as the Demons booted 15 points to one in the second half to run out 14 point winners at the final siren.

Whilst the team came up short in the end, coach Damien Venning stated the team should be proud of their efforts across the season. “Whilst we unfortunately didn’t claim the victory, every single one of you should be proud of your efforts not only today but across the whole season.”
