Updates from David Richardson – BFC President

‘Happy Easter everyone

I just want to send you all my best wishes to you and your families for the long weekend.

Whether you’re with family, friends or others I would like you to enjoy the company and relax as we head into the season proper.

As there is also a bye next weekend for AFL Gather Round (HFL), it is important you get this time to embrace the commitment you’re willing to give for 2023. Whether playing, coaching, being a medic, working the bar, canteen, bbq, social media/website or volunteering, you are all so very important cogs in the wheel of the Mighty Woods. A big team of workers who have a common goal is our aim. Make our club greater!

The executive are happy with how things are tracking so far, with all the coaching roles now filled for the grades, as it stands us in good stead for season.

We are working on getting the coaches together for a meeting, run by Senior Mens coaches Kieran Sporn, Alex Scott and Sam Venning very soon.

If you are a registered volunteer for any grade and you are around children, it is imperative you get your working with children certificate from the SA Govt website. Please reach out if you have trouble sourcing one.

The club is also set to go for all things social. Ricki and the bar staff have always made sure the place is at its best for the punters. I thank you all for the hard work you do. Check the website, Facebook or Instagram to keep abreast of any events you are able to attend. Our social committee is working hard in the background to ensure these events are awesome. Get behind them!

Remember to jump on the portal for all things merch before it ends on the 9th of April. It’s always great to see us all representing in the Red and Green. Lynne Radford volunteers her time to make sure we are ready to go with all this gear, so shout out to her and the Raddy gang and if you see Lynne buy her a drink!

I will now like to also thank Sophie Hodge for all her hard work over the last 18 months she has spent on the executive committee. She is a wonderful contributor to the club and serves us so well on a Thursday night with a team of volunteers putting together meals for the players and those who are at the club on selection night. Due to a new role Sophie has acquired, she has decided that her role on the committee has become too much and has decided to step down, however will continue to volunteer her time for Thursday. This means we have a space on the the executive for anyone who feels they can bring some positive energy to ensure the future of the football club is in safe hands.

If you feel like you’re the one, please do not hesitate to contact me for further clarification of the role. Look forward to seeing some interest from the BFC family!

Lastly thanks to Miki Collins who has taken on the website and social media space. She is a talented Senior Footballer with the women’s program and has been around the club for a few years now. If you need something promoted or wish to add to the socials, please reach out to her and I’m sure she will accommodate your needs!

Always support our sponsors who are so very generous to the BFC and if you know anyone who wishes to sponsor to send them our way.

Stay safe and see you in a couple of weeks for the when the season really kicks in.

Take care

David Richardson
