Happy Easter BFC family

I hope you will get to have some precious down time with family & friends as it is a good time to take stock, reflect & build energy towards the middle part of the year & more particularly for us going into the footy season at full steam ahead.

I would just like to extend out to the wider BFC community my very best & thank you all for your unwavering support towards the footy club you’ve all shown so far this year. Without all you magnificent people, our club does not run!

To the ever-hardworking committee, I also wish you & your families a happy & safe Easter, your tireless work behind the scenes is always under acknowledged, but we do it because we love it.

To the Players & Coaches (HFL has had a good start so far) , Trainers & support staff , take a break, indulge, but don’t over indulge (on chocolate in particular), come back hungry & show us what all the hard work pre-season does to gain momentum towards a successful season.

To all the Staff (Bar, Kitchen, Canteen, cleaners & gate etc). Get that well-earned rest you deserve for all the hard work you’ve done so far to make our great club the best it can be. I’m sure you’ll be ready to go when we come back?

To all of our wonderful sponsors, thank you for your generosity, we are thankful to have such loyal, giving people amongst our ranks. Keep supporting them family as our footy club does not run without them!

Lastly. It is with my greatest thanks I can give, to the most important people of our club, our hardest workers, ALL of the Volunteers, THANK YOU!!!

Fundraisers to Social organisers, Section Co-ordinators, Junior & Sub-Junior coaches & support, like all the Team Managers, Kitchen, BBQ, canteen & Club helpers, Line markers, timekeepers, Goal Umpires, water runners, Trainer’s, assistants & photographers. These are the heartbeat of the club & I hope you all can take a breath & come back refreshed!

Our sporting club cannot survive without these volunteers, so imagine our club without them & we had to pay everyone who lend a hand. The cost to play would then become astronomical. Close to 2.5 million people volunteer their time in sport & recreation activities each year in Australia & many clubs are made up entirely of volunteer workforce. It is the unique part of Australian sport! In our club so many people rely on commitment , skills, time & energy of our volunteers & I could not imagine what we would do without you.

Sporting communities offer volunteers increased opportunity for social connection , physical activity, for mental health & wellbeing. Being able to actively participate in a sporting club gives value & a sense of togetherness & community. It’s a safe place to be.

So, whenever you all get a chance – reach out to a volunteer, get to know them & just say THANK YOU.

Be kind to yourself & others, be safe & take care. I will certainly look forward to seeing as many as you as I can in the coming weeks.
