After a weekend off due to Easter, football returns with the Woods hosting the Echunga Football Club in Round 3 of the Hills Football League at KX Pilates Blackwood Oval.
The match is poised to be special occasion with an ANZAC commemoration service taking place before the bounce of the A Grade.
The Woods play the Demons for the 19th time since 2014 (when Echunga returned to the Division One competition) with the history across those matches being nine wins, eight losses and one draw. In the last four matches, the Woods have a 100 percent winning record including a 12 goal to five second half to set up a 62 point victory in Round 17 last season. In the match, Ryan Dijksman and Mat Tee combined for seven goals whilst Daniel Benson took home the three mail medal votes.
To date in 2022, the Woods have a 1-and-1 record sitting in sixth position on the ladder whilst the Demons have a 0-and-2 record to sit in ninth position. In Round 1, the Demons trailed by two goals at the main break however suffered a second half fade out to eventually go down by 60 points to the Barkeroos whilst in Round 2 they conceded six goals in the opening term to record a 56 point loss to the Tigers at Lobethal Oval. Across these games, small forward Lachlan Bates has booted seven goals for the Demons (39% of their goals) whilst new recruit Matthew Raitt has been named best player in both matches.
Following the games, the kitchen will open from 6.00pm for meals whilst presentations will start at 6.30pm following the Members Footy Tips draw.
