David Richardson will continue as the Blackwood Football Club President after being appointed at the Club’s Annual General Meeting last Friday evening.

Following his first year in the position, Richardson was elected unopposed to the role for a second consecutive season. Speaking at the meeting, Richardson stated “Coming into my first year as President I have come to appreciate the Blackwood Football Club and its community even more so than ever.”

“It took me some time to settle into the role and learn all the different aspects of the club (we are the largest community football club in the state) but have been able to use my skills and knowledge with an aim for the club and our wonderful people to function at its optimum. I am excited to continue to drive the club forward and watch us achieve success together.”

On the evening, there were several changes to the committee ahead of the 2023 season. The evening saw Secretary Ruth Hopton, Senior Football Director Ben Kernich and Vickie Richardson step down from the committee after many years of service and dedication to making the Blackwood Football Club the place it is today. Club President Richardson thanked all outgoing members of the committee.

“I must say a special appreciation to long serving, outgoing members Ruth, Ben and the ever-supporting rock in my life Vickie. Thank you for all that you have done for the club and for anyone who has a spare moment, please send a message of gratitude to congratulate these three for the service they have provided over the years.”

“I am looking forward to working with the newly elected committee and encourage anyone who feels they can be the fine contributor to fill the void they leave, put their hand up to get involved and hope we can see that by the enthusiasm it brings by being a part of the decision making at the club, to be extremely rewarding for you.”

The newly elected people to the committee include:

  • Rohan Clark (Senior Football Director)
  • Trevor Prentice (Interim in Secretary Role)
  • Damien Venning

The club is still looking for an individual to fill a vacancy in the Secretary position along with a motivated individual to manage the club social media pages and website.  If you (or someone you know) would be interested in filling these vacancies, please get in contact with one of the members of the executive committee.
