The Blackwood Football Club is delighted to announce the addition of Matt Walton for the 2023 season.
The 23-year-old defender who stands at 188cm and 90kg will add some poise and strength across the half back line with his dashing run & raking boot.
Walton joins the Woods having played at the played for North Broken Hill Bulldogs in Season 2022 where he finished fourth in their Best & Fairest count with 58 votes. Previously he played for the Flagstaff Hill & Happy Valley in the Southern Football League along with various stints in the SANFL at the Adelaide Crows (where he was a Development Squad member), Port Adelaide and South Adelaide.
Upon committing to the Woods, Walton said he was looking forward to pulling on the red and green guernsey.
“I am excited to be joining the Woods and can’t wait for the season to get underway. I already know some of the lads but am look forward to getting to know everyone from the players, coaches and supporters.” said Walton.
Blackwood Senior Coach Kieran Sporn, said the addition of Walton was an exciting one ahead of the 2023 season.
“Matt is an exciting player and exceptional talent and I look forward to seeing him run around for the Woods.”
