Blackwood Men’s A Grade coach Scott Prebble has made the decision to step down from his senior coaching role.

Prebble began his work within the Men’s program ahead of the 2021 leading his side to consecutive elimination final berths unfortunately being knocked out at that stage on both occasions. From the 37 matches in charge, the side won on 17 occasions (45.9 percent) kicking 327 goals at 48.7 percent accuracy.

The largest victory came in Round 17 of 2021 with a 62 point win over the Echunga Demons at KX Pilates Blackwood Oval whilst Prebble recording at least one victory against eight of the nine Division One sides (the only team Prebble did not coach a win against was Lobethal).

“We would like to thank Scott Prebble for the work he has put in for our club as Senior Coach for the last two years,” Blackwood President David Richardson said.

“Coaching takes up a lot of time and effort, both physically and mentally and we thank Scott for the time he has put into the club and progressing the Woods forward from when he took on the role two seasons ago.”

“We understand Scott’s decision to step away and wish him the very best both personally and professionally over the coming years. We look forward to continue to see Chloe and him around the club in the future.”

Upon informing the club of his decision, Prebble it was a hard decision for him to make.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have made the decision to step down from the position of Senior Coach at the Blackwood Football Club. Circumstances outside of football including work and doing a University degree has, for the time being, required me to put a pause on my coaching career and focus on competing priorities. This is very much a regretful decision as I have enjoyed being the Senior Coach of the Blackwood Football Club and feeling a part of the wider community.”

“The playing group I am most regretful for as the inroads we have made over the past 2 years were setting a solid foundation for success in years to come. It feels like the job is unfinished, however things don’t always turn out how we want them too. Who knows, if the stars align then maybe we can reunite and finish the job.”

“To the fantastic BFC volunteers, this is a massive football club and the tireless work you do is a credit to all. You are the heartbeat of this club and I appreciate all the support you have shown me and our players throughout this journey. I cannot thank you enough!”

“I will still be around to get my footy fix and to watch these players grow into their careers. This is a wonderful club with so many great people, Chloe and I enjoy the company of you all. It has been a fun journey and I am so appreciative to have had the opportunity to coach this great club. I wish everyone involved all the very best in their futures.”

The club will make an announcement about the next A Grade Men’s coach in the coming days.
