Our Women’s side has progressed to the second semi-final after defeating the Devils by 13 points in Sunday afternoon’s Qualifying Final at Heathfield Oval. Entering the match having not defeated the Devils in 2022, the Woods made a fast start booting two goals from five shots in the opening term. The team was buoyed on by a large travelling band of Woods supporters who made plenty of noise from the grandstand at Arkaba Oval all match.

Continuing their momentum in the second term, the Woods matched the Devils for intensity with both sides scoring two goals for the term as the Woods maintained an eight point lead at the major break.

As the weather closed in, coach Damien Venning instructed his players to lock the game down in the second half as Blackwood was able to keep Mt Lofty goal-less after half time and kick one further one themselves to secure a famous victory. Brie Medder was the star up forward booting three majors with Lily Brook and Paris Francis also registering goals.

Inside midfielder Miki Collins was rewarded for her efforts being named best player for the Woods while Saraid Kustermann, Medder, Beth Sigley, Olivia Smith and Simi Dhaliwal also caught the praise of the coaching group being named in the better players.
